Protect Your Vision with UV 400 Sunglasses
Do your current sunglasses put you at risk?
What is UV 400 Protection?
The designation "UV 400" references UV rays at the peak of the UV spectrum, up to the 400-nanometre wavelength. This includes both UVA and UVB. They are the most harmful. Sunglasses with this standard of shielding block a wider spectrum than uniform lenses sold in Canada and the USA, including those found on many luxury brands. When you buy UV 400 sunglasses your eyes receive the best possible protection. Even better, is that UV 400 defense is maintained throughout the life of your lenses, even when they've moved on past their prime.
Unfortunately, data finds that only 1 out of 4 people consistently wear sunglasses with UV 400 protection. The number is further reduced when it comes to key populations, as lower income and even middle class households do not realize that they have access to fashionable UV 400 sunglasses without having to break the bank. SIEPCO's mission is to unlock access and change that perception. UV 400 for all, so to speak.
"Currently there is an absence of federal and provincial legislation mandating labeling of sunglasses or testing of sunglasses. As Health Canada recommends, looking for “UV400” declaration on products is the only way for consumers to find proper eye protection." (BCIT)
Have a look at what experts have to say about the UV 400 protection found in SIEPCO sunglasses.
"Many sunglasses shoppers forget to check the UV rating before purchasing a pair. Be sure to select sunglasses that provide 100% UV or UV400 protection." (American Academy of Ophthalmology)
"Glasses advertising “UV 400” will block essentially all UV rays. This is in reference to the wavelength 400 nanometres [...] The UV protection itself does not diminish over time, even though the tint of the lenses could fade." (McGill University, Office of Science & Society)

What is the Difference Between UV400 and Polarized?
Polarized sunglasses reduce light glare and eyestrain, which allows a better overall experience for the wearer. While they certainly enhance what you're seeing from behind the lenses and offers defense against the sun, they do not deliver compete protection for your precious eyes. This is where there is a significant knowledge gap, even for the most sophisticated sunglasses collector. On it's own, polarization has nothing to do with UV light absorption and therefore provides an insufficient barrier against harmful UVA / UVB rays. But when paired with UV400, the game changes - big time! Polarized lenses amalgamated with UV400 protection represent the ultimate form of protection for your eyes.
While many manufacturers/retailers would have you think that polarized UV400 sunglasses must be priced over the $200 range to recoup costs, that is simply not true. SIEPCO has established relationships with the right designers and suppliers to ensure that the women, men, and children of Canada (and the U.S.) have equal access to the required protection against the suns rays, without having to sacrifice quality or fashion.
